Showing the Good Side of the Mountain State
Denita Barr is a West Virginia 10 and she is not afraid to say it. Growing up in Beckley and Glenn Daniel, her life was not always easy, but being adopted by her paternal grandparents gave her the love and opportunity she needed to become the powerhouse she is today. She is fiercely protective of her home state and is tired of the negative stereotypes that usually get broadcasted. For Denita, West Virginia is a place of incredible views and the kindest people you will ever meet, and she is on a mission to show the world the beauty that lives in the mountains.
“West Virginia fucking rocks. I love living in West Virginia. I grew up in Beckley and then when I was adopted, I was adopted by my grandparents who live in Glenn Daniel. I just want to show everything good about West Virginia because everybody just shows all the fucking shit ass stuff about West Virginia. I’m so tired of that shit.”
From PR Packages to Professional Services
Most people know her from TikTok, where her makeup videos and hilarious stories have earned her millions of views. But behind the screen, Denita is juggling a full-time career in the funeral industry. She manages both pre-need and at-need arrangements, bringing peace and a much-needed laugh to families during their hardest moments. Even with a busy schedule and the challenges of living with bipolar disorder, her goal remains the same: filling her own cup every day and making sure everyone else’s is overflowing with laughter too.
“I literally try to wake up every day and have the best fucking day. What can I do today to fill my cup and have a good time? I want to have the best day every day. I want to have fun. I want to laugh. I want to make other people laugh. I want to do something good every day.”
Raising Baddies and Blocking Bitches
When it comes to the internet, Denita has a simple rule for the hateful people who leave nasty comments about her weight or her looks: she simply does not give a fuck. She is raising her daughters, Ella and Elaine, to be just as unapologetically themselves as she is. Whether she is showing off a new outfit or hiking a trail in the Appalachian wilderness, she is setting an example of what it looks like to be happy and confident in your own skin. She is here to stay in West Virginia, and she is going to keep living it up as long as she possibly can.
“I want the girls to see their mom living it up. I want them to know that it’s okay to be loud, it’s okay to be wild, it’s okay to be crazy, it’s okay to have a good time even if nobody else is. It’s okay to dress how you want. I want them to see a happy mom no matter what.”
