Keeping it in the Family

The team from Cheat Mountain Way Paranormal consists of two brothers and their wives who grew up together in the small towns of Randolph County. While some people might go to the movies for a date, this group prefers to spend their time in places like the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Britney, who has been sensitive to spiritual energy since she was a child, really got the group’s attention with a story from her time working at a local daycare. She described a negative spirit that grew so upset with her presence that it eventually started physical altercations.

“It was a deep dish rack. It levitated up out of the rack and then it was thrown at my face.”

The Mystery of Belinda

One of the most chilling aspects of their investigations is a recurring attachment they call Belinda. This spirit first appeared to Andy and Britney’s young daughter and has since seemingly followed the team across state lines. During investigations in Ohio and Virginia, they have captured voices on spirit boxes that explicitly name their children even though the kids are never present for the hunts. The team remains uncertain if it is a specific entity following them or a spirit that has the ability to read their deepest fears.

“It said, ‘Tell them.’ And Britney says, ‘Tell them what?’ And then it says, ‘We want your bodies.'”

When History Bleeds Through

Not every encounter is terrifying. Sometimes the experiences are just plain strange or even historic. At the Blue Ball Inn in Virginia, the team experienced what they described as hearing through time. They sat in the quiet and heard the distinct sounds of an 18th century party, including music and clinking glasses. Other times, the experiences take a turn for the bizarre, such as an incident at the Ross House where their equipment caught what appeared to be a very forward spirit interacting with Andy. Through all the scares and the laughs, the group finds that the bonding experience is just as important as the evidence they find.

“It sounded like it was right there but it was also kind of far away and it would just sound like a group of people like at a party.”
