Today, we’re diving into the paranormal side of West Virginia’s Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, one of the East Coast’s most fascinating locations. I’m joined by Copperhead, a seasoned paranormal tour guide with 8.5 years of experience at the asylum.

How It All Began

Copperhead grew up in Ozark, Missouri, where his interest in the paranormal started early. One day, while helping a neighbor, he saw the figure of a woman in a blue dress and mop cap—an experience that opened his eyes to the world of the supernatural. From there, he became more attuned to paranormal events, including odd encounters at historic sites like Wilson Creek National Battlefield.

The Paranormal World: More Than Just a Hobby

Copperhead’s journey led him to become a tour guide at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. He explains that some people are more sensitive to paranormal activity than others, often feeling unusual energy or even seeing spirits. “I don’t call myself a medium, but I can feel when something’s around,” he shares.

He recalls a moment in the asylum when he saw a faint, transparent figure, which he acknowledged with respect.

Essential Paranormal Tools

Copperhead walks us through his paranormal kit, explaining equipment like the K2 meter (which picks up EMF signals), dowsing rods, and EVP recorders. His favorite tool? The dowsing rods. He holds them at an angle, making it harder for his hands to manipulate them, allowing him to accurately communicate with spirits.

Evidential Encounters

One of the most remarkable experiences Copperhead shares involves a glowing ball toy he brought to the asylum. The ball, after being rolled down the hall, was inexplicably picked up by an unseen force and moved across the floor in front of a group of 11 witnesses.

Despite using tools like the Spirit Box and Rim Pod, Copperhead emphasizes that no paranormal evidence is definitive. It’s all about asking the right questions and respecting the spirits’ responses.
